Every Saraz begins as a flat sheet of stainless steel and ends as a unique musical instrument, shaped by tens of thousands of hammer strikes and years of refined technique. When you order a custom Saraz, you choose your scale, your center note, and the series that fits your playing — and we build it specifically for you in our workshop in Asheville, North Carolina.
Custom instruments are built in approximately 6–8 weeks. Financing is available through PayPal.

Both the Yuan Series and Professional Series are built from the same high-quality stainless steel with the same note architecture. The difference is in the level of refinement — and how important that last 5% of perfection is to you.
Yuan Series — Starting at $2,399 (9-10 notes included)
The Yuan Series represents the synthesis of our time-tested building experience with a refined design layout and eye catching finish. These instruments are made from the same steel and note architecture as our Professional Series and deliver the warm, resonant, dreamy tone that Saraz is known for worldwide.
The Yuan Series is an excellent choice for:

Professional Series — Starting at $2,399 (8 notes included, $269 per additional note)
The Professional Series is the apex of our craft — the instrument we build when nothing less than the finest possible result will do. Built on the same steel and note architecture as the Yuan Series, the Professional Series goes significantly further in refinement and time investment.
Key differences include:
Tuned shoulder tones — the border surrounding every center note is individually tuned on the Professional Series. This adds a harmonic percussive layer that can be integrated into compositions while also cleaning up the resonance and sustain of the center note. It is a detail that very few builders in the world are willing or able to execute. Some instruments require as much time and energy to tune the two shoulder tones as the rest of the notes combined.
Note perfection — we spend considerably more time on each note of the Professional Series pursuing balanced vibration on all sides of the membrane (think of an evenly tensioned trampoline or drum head), perfectly balanced harmonics and fundamental tone, and tuning stability at the highest possible standard. This can represent 50% more effort per instrument compared to the Yuan Series.

A Note on Payment
Crafting a Saraz is a significant investment of time, energy, and materials. For custom orders, 50–100% deposit is required before we begin building. Full payment via PayPal is accepted on the order form. If you prefer to pay a 50% deposit via bank transfer, Wise, or PayPal invoice, Contact Us and we’ll provide details.
All import taxes, VAT, and any additional shipping costs over $200 are the buyer’s responsibility.
